34Powers of attachment, committal, etc.N.I.

If any person—

(a)wilfully insults or acts contumaciously towards a coroner, or any coroner's officer or any officer of the coroner's court, or any witness, during his sitting or attendance in court, or in going to or returning from the court; or

(b)wilfully interrupts the proceedings of a coroner's court or otherwise misbehaves in court;

he shall be guilty of contempt of court, and any officer of the court or constable, with or without the assistance of any other person, may by order of the coroner take the offender into custody and detain him until the rising of the court, and the coroner may, if he thinks fit, by order impose on the offender a fine not exceeding[F1 £2500] in respect of every such offence.
