27Forgery of passport.N.I.

(1 )F1If any personF2. . . makes a statement which is to his knowledge untrue for the purpose of procuring a passport whether for himself or any other person he shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable—

(a)on summary conviction, to imprisonment for any term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding[F3 level 3 on the standard scale] or to both such imprisonment and fine;

(b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for any term not exceeding two years or to[F3 an unlimited fine] or to both such imprisonment and fine.
