1Amendment of 1881 c.65, as to leases for schools.N.I.

(1)The power of making leases which is conferred by the Leases for Schools (Ireland) Act, 1881, upon the persons therein described shall extend to the making (subject to the limitations contained in section four of the said Act as to quantity, term and rent) of leases to [F1the Education Authority]

(a)of land for the purpose of providing a playground or place of recreation or other school accommodation in connection with a school or schools; or

(b)of land together with a school or schools and playground, teacher's residence or other school accommodation, erected or provided on such land.

(2)The persons described in the Leases for Schools (Ireland) Act, 1881, shall (in addition to the power of making leases conferred by that Act or by that Act as extended by this Act) have power to make leases to [F2the Education Authority] , for any term or in perpetuity, of any quantity of land for any of the purposes mentioned in the said Act or in this Act:

Provided that every lease under the provisions of this sub-section shall reserve the best rent that can reasonably be obtained, regard being had to any money laid out or to be laid out on the premises leased and generally to the circumstances of the case, and the provisions of sections five, six and seven of the Leases for Schools (Ireland) Act, 1881, shall apply to every such lease.
